"Thanks to the generosity of the editor, Professor Fabrizio Serra, and the provident interest of Kepha Foundation President Father Patrizio Benvenuti, the publication of Opera omnia of my illustrious predecessor Cardinal Giuseppe Siri, has been resumed after a long period of interruption.

I applaud the important and worthwhile initiative, congratulating Professor Monsignor Antonio Livi, who accepted the task of the drafting of this new series of works, committing his philosophical competence and his love for the truth revealed. With the volume La Perfezione Cristiana, a collection of pastoral letters put together from 1947 to 1987 in preparation for the celebration of Lent by the Archbishop of Genoa to the clergy and for the parishioners of his diocese, the publication of the works of Cardinal Siri has been resumed.

This and subsequent works currently in preparation are offered to scholars of history of the Church as an additional, valuable document of the ministry of Cardinal Giuseppe Siri in the many years during which he governed the Diocese of Genoa, casting once again into the light his solid doctrinal approach, his constant reference to the ordinary and extraordinary Magisterium of the Church (especially the Second Vatican Council), and his sincere and deep spirituality. In addition, the completion of the opera omnia of Siri will be a decisive contribution to the overall assessment of the Cardinal not only as Archbishop of Genoa, but also as a great protagonist of the history of the universal Church in the second half of the twentieth century."

Angelo Card. Bagnasco
Archbishop of Genoa

Overcoming every obstacle, we wanted to resume the editorial undertaking which had remained unfinished for over three decades. We felt, in fact, a peremptory obligation to bring to its conclusion the endeavor of the systematic collection of the very enriching teachings of the great prelate, Cardinal Giuseppe Siri: books, pastoral letters, lectures, sermons, articles, distributed in the course of his very long activity as theologian and bishop at the helm of a large diocese. The collection began to take form in 1983 under the auspices of the Pontifical Roman Theological Academy, with the publication of the first volume, "The Youthfulness of the Church. "

Today, thanks to the trust accorded us and to the High Patronage of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Genoa, President of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, to whom we are immensely and affectionately grateful; to the fruitful collaboration with the editor and dear friend Professor Fabrizio Serra; and thanks to the erudite editorial care of Professor Monsignor Antonio Livi, also a dear friend, the publication of the Opera Omnia has been resumed by our author in the volume Perfezione Cristiana.

Thus we are certain to offer to scholars and to the faithful yet another gem of the "ricchezza del poliedrico, profondo e spesso profetico magistero del Cardinal Giuseppe Siri" - the richness of the multifaceted, profound and often prophetic teaching of Cardinal Giuseppe Siri - as Cardinal Pietro Palazzini already affirms in the general introduction of the work.

His personality, rich in talent and extraordinary resources, with profoundly held convictions, is vibrant with warmth, purely Latin. A personality whose characteristic discretion and modesty are well summarized by his choice of motto, the words of Psalm 113: "Non nobis Domine”, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory.

Motto and monition which the Kepha Foundation, founded for Him with the precise commitment to diffuse to the world the value and the prophetic truth of His highest teaching, has adopted as its philosophy of action and of life.

Patrizio Maria Romano Benvenuti, Sac. X.ti
President
